Japanese/Zen Garden Gab
My good friend Bill Taylor has invited all of us to his Waterfall Wellness Massage Studio and Gardens on the best over look in all of Lawson’s Fork Creek. For years Bill has been a lover of horticulture with a primary focus on Japanese gardens. His garden has crossed the road as of late and continued to finally incorporate the most magnificent view of the creek below. Bill’s garden happens to house his massage studio Waterfall Wellness. With his great friend Gay Barfield, Waterfall Wellness provides an array of massage services and can be reached at (864) 285-1732. Come join us on Saturday the 19th of March at ten am for a quick tutorial on an affordable way to experiment with Bonsai in the garden and in containers. I will demonstrate the building of a “do it yourself bonsai Knock off” in hopes of encouraging you to try it yourself. We will talk about the history of the Japanese garden and what makes for a Japanese feel. Bring your questions, a bright smile, and a folding chair to make yourself comfortable.

GREET, GAB, AND GARDEN!!!!!!
A really informal get-together at one of my very favorite local nurseries GUNTER’S GARDENS. I will talk about the garden bones (using evergreens, small, medium, and large to give your garden jewelry something to hang from.) We will do lots of Q and A and I am sure before it is over the “oh popular topic” of container gardens will pop up! I will loiter around for an hour or so after the Greet, Gab and Garden to help you with your purchases! Can’t wait to see you.

“Fiddlin’ and Fussin’ with your foundation planting”!!!!!
I will talk about the good old American “bed of lettuce” effect of the traditional foundation planting. Mixing it up with a variety of plant materials can add interest to your foundation and give you more room to garden within the parameters of a standard residential lot. Perennials, annuals, containers, and even wall mounted sculpture can give you real “drive by zip” making you stand out among the neighbors. Do you have old plantings TOO big for your foundation? Lets talk about some “Short kids” or short plants that stop growing around three feet tall. Want to shrink the lawn? How about extending the depth of the foundations planting area?

GREET, GAB, AND GARDEN!!!!!!
Back by popular demand Creative Containers gardens demonstration. I will make, as always a ROYAL MESS as I sling potting soil from one end of George Gunter’s nursery to the other. We will go over the basics, of course, talking about drainage and soil mixture along with re-potting existing plants out of one pot and into another. We will touch on the value of a pruning saw for root pruning containerized plants and getting them the heck out of their pot without destroying them!!!! With the late date of this GREET, GAB AND GARDEN, George’s nursery will be about to pop with color. I will hang around for a few hours to help you with your purchases of Ferns and Hostas and Maples and Hydrangeas and Rhododendrons and Azaleas and Roses and annuals and perennials and, and, and, WOW! ON YOUR MARK -GET SET, GROW!!!!!!
