Reseeding Zinnias!

6 Oct

“Jane, how do I reseed my Zinnias?” I get this question ALL THE TIME! So here it is:

You can do two things. First choice is always the easiest… LEAVE THEM ALONE! A little more detailed and intricate way (for the fancy gardener) is to pop the top off of your Zinnias that you really like. Take them in and dry them on a paper plate. Store them in the fridge once they have dried and save them for the Spring. Spread them in the Springtime to get your favorite colors to come back. Either way works like a charm!

Happy Accidents… Ornamental Gourds

30 Sep Ornamental Gourd

Ornamental GourdOrnamental gourds are so easy to grow. I grow them accidentally by just throwing the left over Thanksgiving decorations into my garden. By the summertime of next year they have reseeded themselves and I don’t have to go buy these beautiful gourds from the grocery store.

Recycle fun with flowers!

26 Sep IMG_6516

This is a simple & easy DIY recycled vase. Punch holes on the edge of a yogurt container. Use some craft wire and create the handle. Wrap the container with bright fun tissue paper, and fold the tissue paper and secure with rubber band. Cover the rubber band with some ribbon. Fill with flowers from your garden and make your neighbor’s day by hanging it on their doorknob. Everyone needs bright flowers in their lives without the hassle of tracking down a favorite vase! Enjoy this fun project!
